Making Batch Master PRO work on a network

Postby bmadmin on Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:23 pm

In order to make Batch Master PRO network with two or more computers the following is needed:

One computer being used in the network should have a full licensed copy of Batch Master PRO installed. You should then ensure that each client computer in the network has the appropriate Batch Master PRO Network File installation for each computer. The Network File installations can be purchased and downloaded from the shop. If you'd like to try the Network File installation FREE for 30 days on your network to ensure it works okay then please get in touch. If you are using one computer as the server computer ensure that this has the lower or equivalent Windows/Office system to all the others. Please note the license for the Network File installation is different from your full Batch Master PRO license and will invalidate it if you try and load it onto the same computer.

1) A complete functioning network system should already be set up between the various computers that enables file transfers between the computers in the network system.

2) The server or one computer (with the full Batch Master PRO license on) in the network system designated the "server" computer should contain the data file: BM_be.mdb (You can download this file from the Batch Master support centre). Share the folder containing the data file (BM_be.mdb) allowing all rights.

3) All the client computers that need to share the data file should now map to drive M:\ on the server/server computer:

From Windows Explorer click on My Network Places, then double-click Entire Network, then double-click Microsoft Windows Network, then double-click Workgroups and then the computer containing the folder with the data file in (BM_be.mdb). Right-click this folder then click Map Drive and ensure that M:\ is set as the drive letter (THIS IS ESSENTIAL!). Ensure the box marked reconnect at logon is ticked and then Okay.

Finished!

Please register in the Batch Master support centre to obtain extra support.
