China on aggressive mode to expand market for Traditional Chinese Medicines
Republic of China is now gearing up to expand its market for Traditional Chinese Medicine. The intention is to tap the China market effectively and help Chinese companies expand their domestic presence.
There is also a need to exhibit the wide range of traditional medicine formulations and herbs to international customers. And it is with this intenton, over 50 companies congregated to participate at the 67 th PharmChina 2012 show, a China National Pharmaceutical event which is being held at the Hefei Binhu International Exhibition Centre from April 25-27, 2012. The event which kicked off along with the API Spring and Interphex China has a strong presence of local and traditional Chinese Medicine manufacturers.
'We are now placing considerable emphasis on the domestic market with our traditional medicine. The opportunity is huge and the basket of offering is comprehensive. There is a medicine for every ailment. But we need to create an awareness among the growing youth population on the benefits of this medication. In addition, our target is the increasing ageing population who need age-old traditional therapies to boost immunity and increase their bone strength,' said an official from China National Corporation of Traditional & Herbal Medicine.
There is also a growing opportunity to address conditions like life style disorders specifically diabetes and obesity. There are several herbs to address these conditions, according to Furen Medicine Group. The herbal medicine companies in the region have an aggressive marketing strategy to increase the sales in the domestic market which has a huge demand driven by its 1.3 billion population. To begin with they will be present at every domestic pharma event to make their presence felt. The main objective of the companies would be sustain their attendance and ensure that demand for traditional medicine is constant.
In addition, there is ample interest for Chinese Traditional Medicine in the markets of US and Europe apart from the South East Asian region. The overseas demand also accounts for substantial interest in Chinese herbs which is now being infused into nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals, stated a participant. Further, there is a need to ensure the well-being and preventive healthcare initiatives which would make consumers look at herbal products that they can rely on. Therefore, we are looking at product quality and efficacy, informed an official.
