IMPORTANT NOTE FROM MEDICHIN:
The headline in the newsletter from CTCA (Center for Therapeutic Uncertainty in Chinese Herbal Medicine) :
Talcum (Hua Shi): “Probably carcinogenic to humans”
And here is the section on talcum (Hua Shi):
Talcum (hua shi) is a naturally occurring mineral that is sometimes contaminated with asbestos. Both substances are chemically related silicate compounds that differ in their crystal structure: talc is a non-fibrous sheet silicate mineral with the chemical formula Mg₃Si₄O₁₀(OH)₂, while asbestos is a fibrous silicate mineral. Talc forms plate-like layers, whereas asbestos forms long, fibrous crystals.
We have asked Phytax to perform additional testing on asbestos contamination through light microscopy, this method is in accordance with the European Pharmacopeia.
Now they have provided us with a certificate that asbestos is not present in our Hua shi/Talcum and therefore it is perfectly safe for use.
